Welcome to a brand new year in the world hobby of collection coins and paper money. 2010 promises to be a bright year for the hobby, with many very exciting events to remember - the US will be issuing a new series of notes with new signature, the unfortunate event of countries 'devauluing' their local currency, and remember to keep the ever watchfull eye on the spot price of gold - AND Silver!!!

There is a lot of hype surounding the spot price of gold and silver - so just what do 'YOU' believe about that hype? Do you believe Gold will hit $2,000 in 2010? Many people swore their life savings on gold hitting that 2k mark in 2009, and many in 2008! So will it hit $2k in 2010? That anybodys guess, but that doesnt stop those hypers from doing their job- most of them with vast holdings in gold hoping to cash out if their hype causes the spot price to climb to the levels they are hoping.

I prefer to ignore the hype. I buy what I want and at the price I want. I also buy mostly silver! Its much cheaper, and therefore more easily and readily available to more collectors. I don't have anything against gold myself, but if i buy 100 ASE's, and gold climbs to $2,000 an ounce - how many collectors would be able to buy them? Especially when the secondary market would then be flooded with everyone else looking to cash out.

I believe the price of all the metals will ebb and flow in a natural cycle. The price will go up, and the price will fall again. But with the US dollar being worth less and less, it does put greater pressure on certain items to be worth more when valued in US dollars.

So I ask you again - What do you believe will happen to the price of Gold and Silver through 2010? Post a comment on my Guestbook.
